So, ever since the announcement this past Monday from Juniper Networks surrounding Marvis Minis, I had this fun idea that this would be the perfect time to print something Marvis-related. At the first A.I. in Action event in Las Vegas 2 years ago I won this little Marvis speaker from Sudheer Matta during one of the giveaways. He has sat up on my office shelf next to J-Kitty (which is a whole other post I need to write) and when "Marvis Mini" was announced I knew that I needed to print a Mini to sit next to Marvis. So I did (have I mentioned how this 3d printing thing is a very long rabbit trail of a hobby?)
For those who don't know, Marvis is the name given to the Juniper Mist Virtual Network Assistant. The name is purportedly based on J.A.R.V.I.S of Marvel Iron Man fame. The short version (but I'm happy to chat about the extended version!) is that Marvis is the interface into all of the data science that Mist gathers and uses on the back end. While "AI" is a fancy buzz word these days in many cases, Marvis has saved me countless hours (days, weeks) of time troubleshooting Mist-based networks. It's not just a gimmick, it's real actionable intelligence, insights, and data.
Now, this is tagged 3d printing, not wireless. And while I have LOTS more content around Marvis, Mist, and Juniper, today I wanted to share this fun little project I came up with to test my printer some. It's even my first 2-color print. I couldn't think of a better print to start with! Just to be clear, these are entirely unofficial and not associated with Juniper, Mist, Marvis, or anyone else (please don't sue me!). I constructed the file in Tinkercad by eye.
I've also decided that I'm going to print a bunch of these and take them to WLPC Pheonix in a few weeks (unless I get a cease and desist)! So, if you're headed there and want one, just drop me a message on one of the socials or even my email:
With all that said, I definitely see some marketing fun coming with the Adventures of Marvis and Marvis Mini (and maybe a cameo by J-Kitty!). For tonight I'm going to let them try and figure out how to mount this AP with no arms...
